Welcome to the mix-CD and mixtape community exchange:

About Us

'Mixchange' comes from 'mix' and 'exchange'. It is a 100% FREE community of audiophiles and mixtapers; here we discuss, create and trade mix-CDs, mixtapes and playlists. Sign-up now to join in, or log-in if you are an existing member!

This is how we work in a few simple steps:

1. The Mixchange team will post a thread on the message board entitled 'TRADE (whatever number) SIGN-UP'

2. All members who wish to trade should reply to the thread, specifying whether they'd like to make a mix-CD or a mixtape.

3. After a few days, a member of the Mixchange team will sit down, pair everybody who signed up into pairings, and will post these partnerships on the message board in a new thread entitled 'TRADE (whatever number) PAIRINGS'.

4. Members who signed up, check who they are paired with and contact that member directly. You swap mailing address details.

5. Each member creates a fabulous mix-CD or mixtape (whichever format you specified), complete with a full tracklisting and preferably some interesting inlay artwork.

6. Each member posts their home-made creation to the other member, and in turn receives one in the post themselves.

At this point, we are required to highlight the following:

Mixchange DOES NOT condone nor encourage illegal file-sharing. Our community aims to introduce one-another to great new music through word-of-mouth and mail-art at a small-scale grass-roots level. This is a community project and we want to contribute to the music industry, not damage it. We INSIST that if you like what you hear, that you purchase the official albums/CDs from the bands or labels themselves, which is why we encourage members to include tracklistings with their creations. The organisers of Mixchange accept no responsibility for the actions of individual members and actively discourage illegal or damaging file-sharing.

...unfortunately we do have to say that - hopefully you are already aware that illegal downloading is bad. Boooo.

Please sign up for free here, or log in now!

Our History

Mixchange had humble beginnings, starting as a small community on Myspace (we were originally entitled 'Mixspace'). We rapidly expanded and after a year or so we decided to emigrate to Facebook where we continued to grow in numbers. Suddenly, however, our group was deleted by the powers-that-be without warning, and this is how we eventually came to rename ourselves and started this website.

We have sadly lost our large group of members due to being deleted so unexpectedly, and so we are starting again and rebuilding our community from scratch.

Mixchange is a trial-and-error process and this website is still under construction. Please email one of us if you have any problems with any part of the site.
